Did the trail this morning...looked like no one had been on it the whole way for a week or so. Saw no one all day. Seemed to be shorter than before...but the downhill on the way back was challenging as much for the slope as for the fallen trees which made free styling through the forest a sketchy proposition.
From the trail, the alpine ski runs of Monarch Mountain come into view. Here in the enclosing forest, shade covers the tracks.
And then a track in the snow. A short, wide bellied mammal? We shared the trail for a while ... then the shadow of my friend turned into the woods. he to his home, me to mine.
