Summer being "over"

There is a morning in mid-August when you realize summer is over. The end comes early in the morning. I go outside to pick up the morning paper or to take Pacha for a walk. Overnight the temperature has dropped. Cold mountain air is still pouring down the foothills onto the Fort Collins plains. And though the temperature that day may get into the 80s or 90s, the pattern of cool, then cold, nights and early mornings will repeat itself. The tipping point has been reached; there is no going back. Summer is over.
