Mosquito nets in the snow

So I look out the study window at the snow falling on the streets of Fort Collins while I search the web for treated mosquito nets to take to India. And I finally find one in an on-line store in Quebec. They answer the phone in French, but all I can blurt out is the standard "Parlez anglais?" "But of course...." comes the answer, followed shortly by a confirmation of the purchase. Shall I practice my French for Pondicherry?

Another thought (random as always). "On the road" should include first tracks in the Never Summer Mountains on our 2007 yurt trip. So there are roads that we travel on and there are roads that we create (at least until the next snowfall). Hmmmm......

On the road again

So here I am in Fort Collins, working on various projects, wishing I were in the mountains taking advantage of the new snow falling tonight and tomorrow, but sending off a few emails to hotels in Chennai and Mammallapurna to set up some rooms for my first nights in Tamil Nadu. And thinking that I'd like to set up a way of communicating with whoever is out there while I make my way in that, for me, new and very old land.

So my thoughts are a bit like the icicle hanging from a porch overlooking Middle Park in Colorado a few weeks back. Dripping, then freezing, dripping, then freezing, gradually getting more solid, capturing the sunset against the Indian Peak wilderness, only to fall off in the heat of the next morning's sun. Not as hot as the tropical sun in India, but warm after a cold night.
